Temporary CT Scanner in Owen Sound to shut down

Brightshores Health System says due to technical issues, the mobile CT scanner in Owen Sound will no longer be available.

The scanner was located in the Emergency Department parking lot and was used while for medical imaging while installation of the new permanent CT scanner took place.

Brightshores says its focused on training staff as the new permanent scanner will be operational in the coming weeks. Since a resolution for the temporary scanner won't be reached by then, patients will be redirected to the Southampton Hospital in the interim.

The health system says stroke and emergency patients will be prioritized according to established protocols, and non-urgent tests will be scheduled at the earliest availability.

Full service will resume at the Owen Sound Hospital once the new CT scanner is ready.
