Clinton Raceway marks another successful season

Clinton Raceway's marketing manager says they saw their largest crowd of the 2024 season on Sunday as it marked the last live race of the year.

Jessica Carnochan said James MacDonald claimed this year's Charity Driver's Challenge title.

"Finishing in the top three of all but one of eight races in the 44th annual challenge, secured the win for MacDonald heading into the seventh race," said Carnochan in a statement. "MacDonald had last won the challenge in 2014."

Top trainer Pat Bissett and top driver Todd Ratchford were also recognized for their outstanding seasons.

"Eight of the country's best drivers competed and generously donated their driving fees for the day to the Royal Canadian Legion," said Carnochan. "Three branches were on hand hosting the trackside fundraiser and a total of over $10,000 was raised to be split between them."

Carnochan said the end of the season also marked "the end of an era."

"The current grandstand is slated for demolition early next week," Carnochan said. "The 2025 season will be ushered in with a modern, fully accessible facility for all to enjoy."

The 2024 race season kicked off on May 19.
