Suspect wanted in Owen Sound assault, robbery arrested

Owen Sound police have arrested a suspect who was wanted in connection to a violent incident that took place in the parking lot of an east-side apartment building nearly two weeks ago.

A warrant was issued for 31-year-old David Ward following an assault and robbery that took place on August 18. Ward was wanted on charges of robbery and possession of property obtained by crime.

Police said Ward was arrested on Friday and was released from custody on Saturday after he made a bail court appearance before the Ontario Court of Justice.

Owen Sound police thanked Grey Bruce OPP for their help in locating Ward.

He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on October 3.

Ward was one of three people arrested in the ongoing investigation.

As previously reported, a 46-year-old from Owen Sound and a 22-year-old of no fixed address face multiple charges.

Investigators said the victim suffered life-threatening injuries after being assaulted and robbed. The victim was airlifted from Bright Shores hospital to London Health Sciences and remains in critical but stable condition.
