Louise Marshall Hospital unveils new palliative care suite

The Louise Marshall Hospital has finished a long-running refurbishment of its palliative care suite.

The Mount Forest hospital began the project back in 2019, launched by a $25,000 donation by late resident Tony Daciuk. However, the refurbishment was put on hold due to the hospital redevelopment and then COVID-19.

"We are so happy to honour Tony’s memory with the re-opening of the palliative care suite," said Amy Van Huss, Executive Director of the LMH Foundation. "It is thanks to his generous donation, and those that followed, that we were able to fund this comforting space for both patients and families during a difficult time."

The hospital re-opened the suite with all-new paint, flooring and furnishings. There is also an adjoining family room and both suites feature comfortable seating, wall-mounted televisions, and wall-to-wall windows.

“We are grateful to Tony Daciuk, the other hospital donors and foundation who supported the palliative room refresh,” states Angela Stanley, LMH President and CEO. “The updated suite provides a more comfortable space, with a home-like feel for families and patients to spend quality time together.”
