Humane Society asking for help to treat wounded dog and cat

The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo & Stratford Perth is asking for help to treat a severely wounded dog.

8-year-old Toby came into care at the Stratford Perth Animal Centre recently. The animal was examined and x-rayed, and was found to have a wound on its hind paw, bruising on the right hind leg, a dislocated left hip and multiple pelvic fractures.

Toby is going for surgery on December 18, and he will need several weeks to recover which will include physical therapy. The Humane Society says medical costs could reach $6,000, and are asking anyone who can donate to help out Toby in his recovery.

This includes the cost of his specialty surgery, antibiotics, physiotherapy and cost of care. Toby will head into foster care to recover until he is ready to find his forever home.

Mio the cat is also in need of help. Mio was brought into the Kitchener site with a broken rib that punctured his abdomen. He will need roughly $2,500 to help with his costs.

Community members can make a one-time donation for Toby and Mio here. Anything raised above and beyond their cost of care will go towards other animals just like them.

“The money raised from this campaign will help Toby in his greatest time of need,” stated Victoria Baby, chief executive officer, HSKWSP. “As we don’t receive any government funding for our charitable programs and services, we rely solely on our community’s generosity to provide this life-saving medical care. We truly hope you’ll donate today.”
