Goderich receiving funding toward victim support services

Huron Bruce MPP, Lisa Thompson, has announced funding from the province's Victim Support Grant program.

The $100,000 funding for Goderich will go toward Huron County OPP efforts in Goderich to "help support victims and survivors of intimate partner violence/domestic violence, human trafficking, and child exploitation," according to a release from MPP Thompson.

Police will be enhancing their knowledge and support for victims of domestic or intimate partner violence, as well as focusing on the need to address a rise in gender-based violence incidents.

"Ensuring that victims receive the supports they need is key to the healing process," said MPP Thompson. "The Victim Support Grant is one of many actions taken by our government to combat crime and ensure public safety across Ontario."

“Support for victims and survivors is a crucial first step to recovery,” added Solicitor General Michael Kerzner. “This important grant is part of our government’s plan to combat violent crime on our streets and ensure that victims are not left behind.”
