UPDATE: Incumbent Ben Lobb wins Huron-Bruce riding

Incumbent Conservative Leader for Huron - Bruce, Ben Lobb, has successfully won his seat at the House of Commons.

Huron-Bruce has been a Conservative riding under Lobb since 2008.

Lobb says the needs on the riding are the same tomorrow as they were today, starting with hard infrastructure like sewers and water, but also high speed internet.

“We made our commitment [to broadband] to 2025. We know from Grand Bend to Southampton and over to Walkerton, there are needs for broadband high speed internet.”

Lobb says another serious issue in Huron-Bruce is the labour shortage.

“Everbody here would know the shortages we see in the service industry with staff and it's really across the board, the labour shortage. So we have a million people out there, we have to get them back to work, we have to incentivize business to bring them back, to help possibly to re-train.”

Lobb also acknowledges, one of the challenges in encouraging people to move into Huron and Bruce to fill those jobs is finding housing that they can afford.

“Housing is one of the top issues and it's whether a young couple can afford to buy their first home, whether it's a retired couple who are selling their home, looking to find a smaller place to down size or to rent or a new graduate just looking to rent a decent place.”
