Convicted sex offender now living in Port Elgin

Saugeen Shores Police are advising residents of Port Elgin a convicted sex offender is now living in the area.

Police say they are issuing the advisory as a precaution. In a release, the service says 40-year-old Mark Anthony Windrim is living in the Woodland Drive area and has several convictions related to children including charges stemming from an incident in February.

Conditions of Windrim's release include not going to any public park, public swimming area, daycare, schoolyard, playground, community centre, and no communication with anyone under the age of 16.

He is to stay at the Woodland Drive address unless he is escorted by his surety.

Police are also warning people that Windrim has rights protected by the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and police will "protect these rights if they are infringed."
