Huron County provincial police are investigating after a man impersonating a police officer pulled over a vehicle near Hensall.
Shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday, police say an individual was driving north on Highway 4 when they noticed they were being followed by an unmarked black sedan.
According to OPP, the driver of the sedan activated his police-style emergency lights and initiated a traffic stop.
The suspect exited the vehicle and approached the other driver and allegedly demanded to know their destination.
Following the brief encounter, the suspect returned to the sedan and left. The driver returned home and decided to report the suspicious encounter to local police.
The suspect is described as a male in his early 40s approximately 5'5" with a thin build, short dark hair and a moustache. He was wearing a police-style jacket emblazoned with the word 'Police' across the chest, he was also carrying portable radio.
The OPP is reminding the public that they do not conduct stops to determine if someone is complying with the stay-at-home order.
On some occasions, some officers might not be wearing a uniform, but they will be able to provide you with information including their rank, the name of their detachment and badge number.
