May 1st is the next deadline for individuals and organizations to submit applications for the Huron Heritage Fund.
Huron Cultural Services Director, Beth Rumble, explains the fund provides matching funding to a maximum of five thousand dollars for any kind of heritage project. “This funding is available for any kind of heritage project. So we're looking at things that are located in Huron County, obviously, with some heritage significance to the county, should be available and open to the public and also where preservation and restoration are done in an historically appropriate method.”
Rumble says over the years they've funded a wide range of projects, including the restoration of the Radome in Vanastra. Rumble says that was completed last year and one of the challenges was finding the most suitable material for re-covering the dome.
She says they also cover the cost of publishing some historically significant books and in 2018 they supported the production of the play, Ten Lost Years at the Goderich Little Theatre.
