South Huron approves budget

The Municipality of South Huron has approved its budget for this year.

Mayor George Finch said they were able to keep the increase to just under two per cent, adding they were able to do that without having to cut any service so he believes it's a very good budget.

Finch said South Huron is facing the same monetary constraints that all municipalities are facing right now. He said when he ran for office that the job of the municipality, the mayor and the council was to provide the needs of the municipality and not necessarily the wants.

"The municipality will work with the people to get their wants, but at the end of the day, their sole responsibility is providing needs, good roads, good sewer system, water system, that's born on the responsibility of the actual municipality's council," said Finch.

Finch adds dollars are tight everywhere so they have to make sure they're making the best use of limited resources.
