A McDonald's restaurant is coming to Wingham.
North Huron council has authorized a Site Plan Control Agreement to construct a McDonald's, a gas station and a convenience store at the corner of County Road 86 and London Road (Highway 4).
Most Wingham residents believed this property was going to be an A&W, however, Huron County Planner Laura Simpson has confirmed some recently revised drawings included changes at the request of the owners to allow for a McDonald's instead.
The area within the yellow box will see a McDonalds, gas station and convenience store constructed at the south end of Wingham. Tim Hortons is across the street to the southeast.
Tal Kang, a director with the Ontario numbered company that will own the new site, said he has previous experience building similar developments in Schomberg and Beeton. He added these similar setups have created jobs and provided a "win-win" situation.
Kang said it is premature to speculate on a completion time, but added that he should have a better idea of an end date when Phase 1 of the site plan agreement is completed in six to eight weeks.
