A company that has opened a new office in Walkerton is hosting an open house this afternoon.

Applus+ specializes in non-destructive testing of equipment in the advanced manufacturing and energy sectors, including nuclear.

Residents can explore the operation from 1-4 pm at 220 Kincardine Highway, in the Trillium Court building.

A career-oriented networking session will also take place for those who seek to learn more about a career in the testing and inspection field.

Testing and inspection technologies include its proprietary and advanced ultrasonic imaging technology, SCAR radiography, rope access inspections and heat treatment solutions.

Applus+ is one of the world’s leading companies in the testing, inspection, and certification sector. It provides solutions for customers in all types of industries to ensure that their assets and products meet health and safety, quality, and environmental standards and regulations.

“This is fantastic news. We are excited that Applus+ has chosen to locate in Walkerton,” said Brockton Mayor Chris Peabody. “We look forward to the company growing in our community.”

“As we seek to grow and diversify our operations in Eastern Canada, strategically positioning an office in the Municipality of Brockton was a logical choice,” said Paul Galloway, Eastern Regional Director of Applus+ Energy & Industry Division Canada. “Located near the country’s first private nuclear generator and in a town recognized for its local commitment from employees and employers to provide quality products and services that sustain the local economy, we are pleased to join the Brockton community and look forward to further development as we grow together.”

Applus+ operates in more than 70 countries through four global divisions and employs over 22,000 people. The Energy & Industry Division of Applus+ has been exploring operations in the nuclear sector since 2016. The company already has contracts with Ontario Power Generation. The new office in Walkerton office is its third in Ontario; it has others in Burlington and Pickering, and 10 more across the country.
