Bruce Power has made an $18,000 donation to the Veterans Care Program at St. Joseph’s Health Care London to support its Priority Resident Care needs.
The program provides men and women who served overseas in Second World War or the Korean War with residential care to enhance their quality of life and meet the unique needs of military veterans.
Veterans located throughout the South West Local Health Integration Network from Grey-Bruce County in the north to Elgin County in the south are referred to the program for long-term care. There are 126 veterans who currently call Parkwood Institute home, with an average age of 93.
Bruce Power and its partners in the nuclear supplier community celebrated a total of $1 million donated to Wounded Warriors Canada, becoming the first $1 million donor in the history of the organization.
The funding goes toward programs that assist with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, trauma recovery, education, job skills training, and veterans transitioning to civilian life.
"We are grateful and inspired by Bruce Power’s commitment to the Veterans we serve," said Heather Tales, director of the Veterans Care Program at St. Joseph’s Health Care London. "The company’s gift towards upgrading and replacing the ceiling lifts over each bed will enhance the safety and independence of our Veterans."
