Three new recruits have joined the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police detachment and are conducting regular patrols with their assigned coach officers.
Provincial Constable Chloe Middegaal, a Huron County native, comes to the OPP after graduating with a degree in Community & Criminal Justice. She was a former OPP Marine Student and has worked with the Ministry of the Attorney General with Probation & Parole. She also has worked as a student with Peel Regional Police in their crime analysis section.
Provincial Constable Talmage Edgley has been working toward a career in policing for the last decade and has volunteered with Dufferin County Emergency Search & Rescue. Edgley comes to Huron County OPP after working for a construction equipment rental company in Guelph. He was serving as an acting assistant manager and dispatcher of their delivery fleet.
Provincial Constable Kaitlyn Pretli, is a native of LaSalle, who previously worked as a security officer at a hospital in Windsor where she worked with mental health patients, clients in detox programs and those in long-term palliative care. Pretli also worked with the OPP as a Marine Student.
As in the case with all OPP recruits, they completed a week-long orientation at the Provincial Police Academy located at OPP General Headquarters (GHQ) in Orillia. Following orientation, the recruits reported to the Ontario Police College (OPC) in Aylmer for an additional 12 weeks of fundamental police training. After completing this training the recruits returned to the Provincial Police Academy for an additional eight weeks of enhanced fitness, firearms, classroom training and realistic practical simulations designed to ensure the recruits are operationally ready to serve and protect. After successfully completing this training they were sworn in as provincial police constables.
