Grey County OPP are reminding drivers to keep a close eye out for motorcycles with the arrival of warmer temperatures.
The OPP are asking all motorists to practice safe, defensive driving to reduce the number of motorcycle fatalities and serious injuries on our roads.
Motorcycles are more vulnerable because they are harder to see than other vehicles and riders have virtually no protection in a crash.
Police will watch for Impaired, aggressive and distracted driving. Drivers should make sure they share the road, and look for motorcycles, especially at intersections. One-third of the motorcycle collisions are intersection related.
Motorcyclists should avoid riding in a vehicle's blind spot in an effort to reduce the chance of a potential collision caused by motorists who may not see them.
Motorcyclists should not assume that other drivers can see them, and should ride at appropriate speeds for road and weather conditions. Speeding and loss of control are major causes of motorcycle collisions.
