Blyth residents expressed unanimous opposition to two locations put forward for a new fire hall and public works shed.
Citizens braved blowing snow and frigid temperatures on Wednesday night to pack the Blyth Memorial Hall, where council suggested placing a new fire hall at a location on North Street close to North Huron's water treatment facility, or at a baseball diamond in the Blyth Campground.
Reeve Bernie Bailey said attendees almost unanimously panned both ideas.
"The folks of Blyth really let us know how they felt about the two options we gave them," he said. "We'll have to go back to council now and ponder our next move".
The Township sold the Emergency Services Training Centre last year to Cowbell Brewing Company, leaving council with less than 18 months to construct a new fire hall, a number that has dropped to just over 10 months.
Attendees cited road conditions, safety concerns, as well as the historical significance of the ball diamond as reasons not to build on the proposed areas.
"It was just an overwhelming sense of neither of the locations were of interest to the citizens of Blyth," said Bailey.
North Huron council made no decision on Wednesday, and will instead discuss the issue at their next regular council meeting on Monday, February 4.
