Perth-Wellington All-Candidates Meeting In Listowel

An all-candidates meeting co-hosted by the Listowel Agricultural Society and Perth County Federation of Agriculture was held Wednesday at the Listowel Ag Hall.

Candidates from the Progressive Conservatives, Liberals, Greens, NDP and Libertarian took written questions from the crowd that varied from hydro rates, to rural infrastructure funding, to concerns about the provincial debt.

Federation President Robert Martin says the people of Perth-Wellington want to stop the exodus of young people to larger cities, and says increasing rural infrastructure funding will help curb the number of people leaving small towns. This will provide an incentive to buy homes and continue living in rural municipalities.

The five candidates in Perth-Wellington have attended three meetings so far. There's a 'double-header' on May 29, with one meeting each in Harriston and Kenilworth.
