A 25-year-old South Bruce woman has been identified as the victim of a fatal single-vehicle crash on Hwy. 9 in Minto.
The OPP say Jodi Lynn Whitehead was killed when the 2007 Dodge Ram pickup truck she was in veered into a ditch, hit a tree, and caught fire at around 11:30pm Wednesday night.
A passerby and two nearby homeowners succeeded in removing the driver and a baby, but were unable to rescue Whitehead.
The 21-year-old male driver was airlifted to Hamilton with serious injuries, while the baby was treated for minor injuries, and released from hospital.
The collision closed Hwy. 9 between Ayton Rd. and the 14th Line for several hours.
The Wellington County OPP is asking anyone that may have witnessed this collision to please call 1-888-310-1122. Anyone knowing the identity of the passerby that assisted at the collision is also asked to call as he left the scene prior to officers learning his identity.
