According to OPP statistics, distracted driving was the number one cause of deaths on OPP patrolled roads in 2016.
It's the fourth consecutive year that inattentive drivers led the category known as the "Big Four."
Police say 65 people were killed in distracted driving incidents, 55 people were killed in speed related investigations, 53 in seat belt related crashes and there were 45 alcohol related deaths.
The OPP is gearing up for the annual province-wide Distracted Driving Campaign.
In 2016, Huron County OPP laid 24 distracted driving charges, while in Perth County 31 charges were laid.
