The Grey Bruce Board of Health has announced the appointment of Dr. Christine Kennedy as the new Grey Bruce medical officer of health.
Kennedy has been the associate medical officer of health for Grey Bruce for the last two years.
Originally from Newfoundland, Kennedy has extensive experience in public health as a researcher, public health economist and consultant. Kennedy has worked for Health Canada in Alberta, and in Ontario as a Regional Community Medicine Specialist for First Nations and Inuit Health Branch.
She says she's proud to take the helm of an efficient and dedicated team at the Grey Bruce Health Unit.
"No person has to do this alone. I have an incredible team of almost 150 staff who are wonderful and who will work to provide excellent public health services for the population of Grey and Bruce," says Kennedy.
Kennedy officially starts as Grey Bruce Medical Officer of Health July 1st. She takes over the position from Doctor Hazel Lynn who is retiring.
