A West Grey family will be hosting a special walk this weekend in support of Tourette syndrome.
Ayton residents Corey and Angie Tone are holding a 5 km Trek For Tourette at the Ayton Centennial Hall and the goal is to raise $160,000.
Angie Tone spoke with CKNX about the personal connection they have to the disease; a disease they are definitely no stranger to.
"Our son Wyland was diagnosed early 2014; we noticed the onset of [Tourette Syndrome] a little bit earlier but he was actually diagnosed that year," says Tone.
For Tone and her husband, the meaning behind the walk runs deep and so far, the support and interest from the local community has been incredible.
"We've got about 40 walkers and then we've had great support with getting pledge sheets out in the area between Hanover, Ayton and Mount Forest," adds Tone.
The First Annual West Grey Trek for Tourette happens Sunday, March 20, 2016.
The event kicks off at the Ayton Centennial Hall starting at 2pm.
The event goes rain, snow, sleet or shine.
