UPDATE: Road Conditions Worsen as Snow Continues to Fall

Snow continues to fall throughout most of Midwestern Ontario and Environment Canada says more is likely to fall/accumulate throughout the evening hours Tuesday.

It is possible that we could see upwards of 10 to 20 cm but conditions will still be quite poor due to gusting winds of 70-80 km/hr that could create widespread whiteout conditions in many areas.

Officials say the conditions should improve later this evening as the lake effect bands begin to shift north away from the Huron and Perth regions although blowing snow will still be an issue due to gusting winds.

Conditions in Huron County are especially bad this evening. Huron OPP have closed all the roads in the county.

The SNOW SQUALL WARNING continues for the following:

WINGHAM - BLYTH - NORTHERN HURON COUNTY LISTOWEL - MILVERTON - NORTHERN PERTH COUNTY GODERICH - BLUEWATER - SOUTHERN HURON COUNTY AND STRATFORD - MITCHELL - SOUTHERN PERTH COUNTY.

For Bruce Power Employees:

Category B and C employees to stay home tonight

Due to the closure of Hwy. 21 from Kincardine to Port Elgin, and the continued severe weather conditions, Category B and C staff still on site are asked to go home unless otherwise notified by your supervisor.

Category B and C employees scheduled to work Tuesday night are asked to stay home unless otherwise notified by your supervisor.

Category A employees are to report for duty as per normal, using alternate routes County Rd. 23 (B-Line) from Kincardine and County Rd. 33 (Shore Road) from Port Elgin.

Buses from Kincardine and Port Elgin are operating on their normal schedule and employees are encouraged to use this service. There will be no fee for the bus service this evening or tomorrow morning.
