Meaford’s treasurer has again managed to reduce the Municipality’s proposed tax increase for 2015 - this time to just below 1.4 per cent.
At a special meeting Monday afternoon, Darcy Chapman told Meaford’s committee of the whole he and his staff succeeded in reducing this year’s tax increase to 1.38 per cent.
The reduction in Meaford’s tax rate would mean that residents living in a single-family home will pay about $26.60 more than in 2014.
Residents living in waterfront homes along Georgian Bay will pay almost $60 more this year than last. That’s an increase of almost $5 a month more than last year.
Meaford council will vote on the budget at their March 2nd meeting.
