A number of Bruce and Grey Counties spaces have been picked to receive federal funding for accessibility improvements.
A total of seven projects will pull $176,000 from the Conservative Government's Enabling Accessibility Fund, which is designed to make buildings more accessible for those with physical disabilities.
“I am very pleased to see that these organizations have received funding through this round of funding under the Enabling Accessibility Fund,” Bruce-Grey MPP Larry Miller says in a media release. “This program has supported numerous successful projects in communities throughout Bruce and Grey counties in previous years. I am looking forward to seeing these projects completed to improve accessibility in the area.”
The majority of funding has been given to the Cape Croker and Georgian Shores United Churches, along with the Hepworth Bapist church, to help build elevators and lifts for the facilities.

Hanover Civic Centre - $6,500 - Installation of automated door openers.
2. Rockcliffe Gospel Temple - $20,566 - Installation of automated door openers.
3. Georgian Shores United Church - $24,000 - Construction of an exterior ramp.
4. Hepworth Baptist Church - $50,000 - Installation of an elevator.
5. Cape Croker United Church - $26,000 - Installation of lifts, construction of an exterior walkway with accessible porch, ramps and the construction of a deck.
6. Bijou Theatre (Chesley) - $8,250 - Installation of new doors with automated openers.
7. Harrison Park - $41,210 - Construction of accessible washrooms.
