The head of London Health Sciences Centre, on leave for several months, is departing the organization.
In a statement provided to the media on Tuesday morning, the hospital announced that Dr. Jackie Schleifer Taylor and the LHSC Board of Directors have "mutually agreed that Dr. Schleifer Taylor’s employment as President and CEO of LHSC has ended effective June 10, 2024."
Schleifer Taylor began a leave of absence in November, with the LHSC board chair citing a health issue.
But the leave also came just over a week after the London Free Press reported that hospital executives had planned to spend nearly $500,000 on travel to Portugal, United Arab Emirates, and Australia.
The Australia trip was cancelled after the cost of the trip become public knowledge. Schleifer Taylor was listed as a speaker at the World Hospital Congress conference in Portugal.
According to the hospital, David Musyj will continue in his role of Acting President and CEO. He was recently seconded from Windsor Regional Hospital.
"He has committed to stay with LHSC for an extended period of time to continue to provide stability and leadership," the statement from LHSC said.
