London police say officers tasered the same man twice in less than 24 hours after two separate incidents downtown, one involving a knife.
Police saw a man graffitiing a property in the area of Dundas and Clarence streets around 3:10 a.m. on Saturday. When officers told the man he was under arrest, he resisted and took off running. Officers chased the man until he stopped. When they told him a second time he was under arrest, he allegedly threatened them.
Police tasered the man.
He was then taken into custody.
A search of the man turned up a quantity of drugs.
The following morning around 2:15 a.m., police received a 911 call about a masked man threatening people with a knife inside a business near Richmond and John streets.
When officers arrived, the man tried to run but was stopped trying to get out the back of the business. After being told he was under arrest, the man allegedly threatened officers and resisted arrest.
Officers tasered the man, who continued to resist arrest - kicking and spitting.
The man was taken into custody and a knife was seized.
No injuries were reported in either incident.
A 27-year-old man is charged with 11 offences including resisting arrest, assaulting a peace officer, mischief under $5,000, escaping lawful custody, possession of a weapon, failure to comply with an undertaking, failure to comply with release order, and possession of drugs.
The man remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in London court on Monday.
