Knights turn back the Generals 5-3

Liam Foudy scored twice as the London Knights beat the Generals 5-3 in Oshawa Sunday night.

The Knights maintain their first-place showing in the OHL Midwest Division, with 72 points.

Connor McMichael opened the scoring late in the first segment, with his 29th goal of the season.

The Knights held the 1-0 lead until late in the second period, when Oshawa's Allan McShane scored on the power play and tied the game up.

Oshawa briefly took the lead early in the third with a power-play goal from Nicolas Mattinen. Foudy's first goal of the evening was short-handed at 5:56, tying the game at two apiece. The Generals' Anthony Salinitri scored his 37th goal of the season just about a minute-and-a-half later for a 3-2 lead, but the Knights responded by coming back and taking the lead for good with three consecutive goals. Josh Nelson scored the equalizer at 10:47, Cole Tymkin provided the game-winning goal 42 seconds later, and Foudy provided insurance with his second score of the game late in regulation.

Joseph Raaymakers faced 29 shots in goal for London and stopped 26 of them. Kyle Keyser had 40 saves for Oshawa.

The Knights travel to Flint Wednesday night to take on the Firebirds.
