There have been three murders in the city in 2014, compared to eight in 2013.
The first of the year happened in May when 28-year-old Jeremy Taylor died after he was stabbed inside a Clarence St. home.
Adam Dale Keith, 27, faces a charge of first degree murder in connection to Taylor's death.
The second happened a few months later, when Jeremy Gubbels of London allegedly killed his father, 54-year-old Mario Gubbels. His body was found in vehicle near Richmond St. and Queens Ave. His mother's body was also found near Watford.
That case remains before the courts in Sarnia. Gubbles faces two charges of first-degree murder in the death of his parents.
In November, 45-year-old Shane Sturgess died in hospital after being stabbed on Adelaide St.
Frederick Oag, 38, faces a charge of second degree murder in connection to Sturgess' death and remains in custody.
Police report that as of October 31, there have been a total of 21,819 criminal charges laid in the city, up from the 20,088 in 2013.
While overall crime statistics have increased, the number of murders has decreased by over 50% this year.
Police statistics also show there were four attempted murders in 2013, with only one being reported this past year.
However, the number of those charged with theft, fraud and possession of stolen property is on the rise.
