Chatham-Kent was well represented at the 2025 Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) Track and Field Meet.
Fifteen students from four municipal high schools competed at the tournament this past week at York University in Toronto.
Chatham-Kent Secondary School's (CKSS) Noah VanNeck won gold in both novice boys' shot put and discus.
VanNeck threw a shot put 14.44 metres, while his top discus throw came in at just under 47 metres.
Brooke Bentley from CKSS took home a silver medal in senior girls' shot put. Her best throw came in at 12.26 metres.
VanNeck and Bentley accounted for Chatham-Kent's only medals at the Meet.
The closest to reaching the podium were CKSS's Gisele McKaig, Gebet Osei, Jemmoy Campbell, and Lia Hillman, who finished 4th in the women's 4x100 metre relay. Also finishing in fourth was Madeline Verbeek from Ursuline College Chatham (UCC) in the novice girls' 300-metre hurdles.
The other eight athletes from CK were CKSS's Gracie VanderGriendt and Aiden Winter, UCC's Aislyn Dehoey, DJ Destang-Phillip, Lily Babin, and Seth Mallette, Chatham Christian School's Jeramiah Zomerman, and Lambton-Kent Composite School's Kinser Rivest.
