Cars and Coffee returns for another summer at RM Sotheby's

Hundreds of classic car enthusiasts are expected to descend upon One Classic Car Drive in Blenheim this weekend as a local auto restoration giant offers another rare look behind its doors.

RM Auto Restoration will host the first of three popular RM Cars & Coffee events on Saturday, June 14.

The events offer members of the public a chance to check out some very rare and valuable vehicles that are housed at the RM Sotheby's museum, which is only opened up a few times a year, as well as a behind-the-doors look at the restoration shop.

RM Sotheby's Client Account Manager Tess Scaman says they are also inviting people to show up with their own classic cars or modern-day supercars to show off.

"We usually see about 450 classic cars on average per event with about 300-400 general parking cars," said Scaman, adding that a wide variety of vehicles show up. "We had an army tank show up last year... people just bring out their own cars they have put a lot of work into, some people even put their cars on display that they're willing to sell."

Scaman said they see about 2,000 people for each event from Michigan, Windsor, London, Toronto, and even further.

After breaking some attendance records last year, Scaman said from what she is hearing at the moment, they may set a new standard again on Saturday.

"We're debating whether we should be upping all of our baked goods and drinks, but we should be good," said Scaman.

The event starts at 8 a.m. and runs until 11 a.m. with baked goods, coffee, and refreshments available free of charge on a first-come first-served basis.

Scaman said they will also have a memorabilia table set up with some old RM Magazines and some lanyards and bags available for purchase by donation.

The donations that are received at the event on Saturday will go toward Habitat for Humanity Chatham-Kent.

After Saturday, the next RM Cars & Coffee events will be on Saturday, July 12 and Saturday September 13.

The events will go ahead rain or shine.
