Three new measles exposures reported by CK Public Health

More measles exposures have been reported by the local health unit.

CK Public Health said three new measles exposures have been identified at the following places and times in the community:

  1. Shoppers Drug Mart (416 St Clair St., Chatham)

    March 18, 2025, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

  2. Shoppers Drug Mart (416 St Clair St., Chatham)

    March 19, 2025, from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

  3. Food Basics (448 St Clair St., Chatham)

    March 25, 2025, from 3:15 p.m. to 6 p.m.

These latest exposure sites follow the announcement of two exposure sites in Wallaceburg earlier in the week.

CK Public Health is asking those not up-to date with their vaccinations and were present at those spots during the stated times to call CK Public Health at 519-352-7270 ext: 5902.

CK public health officials are also requesting that people with measles symptoms who need to visit a healthcare provider, emergency department, or walk-in clinic to call first and tell them you have had an exposure and measles symptoms.

Measles symptoms can include a fever, runny nose, cough, drowsiness, irritability, and red eyes. A red rash appears on the face three to seven days after the start of the symptoms and it may start from the face and work its way down the body.

CK Public Health noted that most residents are vaccinated and protected against the measles and the risk of getting measles remains low to the broader community.

The CK health unit urges all individuals to ensure they are up-to-date on their vaccinations as a precaution.
