Teachers and their classes from Chatham-Kent and Lambton County are being invited to participate in the second 'Clash of the Classrooms'.
The program is open for elementary, secondary and homeschool classes and is in its second year.
Lambton County Library Public Services Coordinator Vanitia Campbell said there will be some prizes to be won for the classrooms.
"The schools that read the most per capita in Lambton and schools in Chatham- Kent as well earn a donation to their library or learning commons," she said.
Two elementary classes and one high school class from each region with the most minutes read will win a pizza party as well.
A new addition for this year is the top elementary school and top high school across both regions will get their name added to the Clash Cup, which will be displayed at the library closest to the school.
Campbell said last year was a success for the competition.
"We had 87 classes from Chatham-Kent and 48 from Lambton county, so quite a few participated. We had well over 300,000 minutes reported as read total between the two regions, so that is a massive number," she said.
The challenge begins Monday, February 5 and runs until Friday, March 8.
Campbell said the goal of this challenge is to spark students' love for reading.
"We thought if we can come up with something that is competitive and a little bit of a challenge we can maybe take reading from being a chore that they have to complete because they are in school and turn it into something they want to do," she said.
Campbell added students and even adults have so many things pulling for their attention.
