CK police find stolen vehicle on Grey Street

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips after they found a stolen vehicle in Chatham that also had some stolen items inside it.

Police said officers were in the area of Grey Street at around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday when they found a vehicle that had been reported stolen by the London Police Service.

A search of the vehicle turned up several items that were stolen from a local store.

London police were able to track down the owner of the vehicle, which has been towed from the location, and police also recovered all of the stolen items that were found.

Police investigating hit and run involving cyclist

Chatham-Kent police are putting out a call for tips as they try to track down a driver who hit a cyclist in Chatham Tuesday morning.

Police said they were called to the area of King Street West just before 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and learned that a cyclist had been heading north on King Street West when a vehicle that was heading west on First Street failed to stop at the stop sign and hit the back of the bicycle.

Officers said the driver did get out to check on the cyclist, but then took off.

The cyclist was not hurt, but police are still trying to track down the driver and the vehicle.

Police said the descriptions they have so far are very limited, so they're asking anyone with information to contact Constable Ashleigh LaBlance at 519-436-6600 or ashleighl@chatham-kent.ca.
