Cars, trucks, motorcycles, and tractors are set to take over Ridgetown for a good cause.
The Ridge Runners East Kent car group will host its first-ever East Kent Hot Rods for Hospice benefit on Saturday, September 23 at the Ridgetown Fairgrounds.
All vehicles, vintage or not, will be displayed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festival will also feature food, entertainment, vendors, and activities for kids and families.
"Hot Rods for Hospice is the result of passion from members of Ridge Runners East Kent who have had family, friends, and neighbours impacted by Hospice," said event co-organizer Emily Vollans. "We know that Chatham-Kent shows up to support Hospice and we wanted to make a positive impact in our community while supporting an amazing cause."
The Ridge Runners East Kent group is working with the Ridgetown District Agricultural Society and the East Kent Vintage Equipment Club to host the festival.
Participants of the car and tractor shows will receive dash plaques and be eligible to win a selection of door prizes.
Kids will also have the opportunity to participate in a Hot Wheels race provided by the Lally Group, a Nerf shooting gallery provided by CK-Expo, activities from Early On, a corn pit, a three-legged race, a potato sack race, and more.
The event is free admission for guests, but cash donations for the Hospice will be appreciated.
There is a fee for vehicles, vendors, and swap meet participants. All proceeds will go to the Chatham-Kent Hospice.
"Community Fundraisers play an important role in raising essential funds for the operation of Hospice," said Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation Executive Director Jodi Maroney. "We are thankful to be in a community that is so dedicated to supporting Hospice and providing local families with the care they need in their grief journey."
