Man found with stolen handicap parking signs

A 51-year-old Chatham-Kent man is facing charges after police allegedly found him with some stolen handicap parking signs.

Chatham-Kent police said they made that discovery while they were following up on a tip about a suspicious person on King Street East in Chatham.

The accused was arrested, charged with theft and possession of stolen property, and later released with a future court date.

Police find compound bow on man with weapons ban

A 46-year-old man who was wanted on a pair of warrants is facing charges after police allegedly spotted him walking around in Chatham with a compound bow.

Police said they found him while they were responding to a tip about a suspicious person on Grand Avenue West just after 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers said he was wanted for failing to comply with a probation order and failing to comply with a DNA order -- he had also been ordered by the court not to possess any weapons.

Police said they seized the bow and arrested the man. He was charged, taken back to police headquarters, and then later released with a future court date.

Police find fentanyl on wanted man during traffic stop

A traffic stop in Wallaceburg Wednesday night ended with an arrest after police found a wanted man inside the vehicle they pulled over.

Chatham-Kent police said the vehicle was stopped on Elgin Street at around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

During their investigation, officers learned the passenger inside was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

When police arrested him, they allegedly found some suspected fentanyl on him -- even though he had previously been ordered by the court not to possess any unlawful drugs or substances.

A 42-year-old Walpole Island man was charged with failing to comply with a release order and possession of a controlled substance. He was taken back to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date.
