A Chatham art gallery isn't letting COVID-19 stop it from celebrating Earth Day.
The Thames Art Gallery and ARTspace have launched the 'EVERYday is Earth Day' display. It features the work of Chatham artist Sally Joyce and Blenheim artist Joe Peet.
According to Thames Art Gallery Curator Phil Vanderwall, the artists met at an environmental rally several years ago and both have an extensive history in environmental activism.
"They've been involved with ARTspace for quite some time and they're both very interested in environmental issues and it reflects in their work," Vanderwall explained.
The artwork is being publicly displayed and can be seen through ARTspace's Window Gallery, located at 165 King Street West.
Vanderwall said the work uses natural objects to bring attention to the impact that the planet and the environment have on people's lives.
"If you look in the window there are pieces of driftwood and different sorts of natural elements that they use," said Vanderwall. "I know Sally incorporates some water that she got from the lakes into her paints as well."
'EVERYday is Earth Day' will be displayed until May 2, 2021.
