A fresh blanket of snow is expected to cover much of southwestern Ontario Thursday night and could lead to some hazardous driving conditions.
Environment Canada has issued a winter weather travel advisory for Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, Middlesex-London, Elgin, Oxford, and Sarnia-Lambton.
The system packing between 5 to 10 cm of snow will arrive in southwestern Ontario after the supper hour and move northeastward. The heaviest snowfall will come during the first two to three hours of the mid-winter storm's arrival, according to the national weather agency.
Lighter snowfall is expected after midnight.
Road conditions are expected to quickly deteriorate once the snow begins to fall. Drivers are advised to leave extra time to get where they are going and to adjust their speed accordingly.
The snow will end by Friday morning.
