A London-based company building its third residential high-rise in Sarnia is contributing $20,000 to the local fight against COVID-19.
The Tricar Group is donating $10,000 each to the United Way of Sarnia-Lambton’s Compassion Fund and to Bluewater Health's COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund.
Company Vice President Adam Carapella said now is the time for the community to come together to support those in need.
"Building homes also means building communities and we are committed to helping uphold the health, safety and vibrancy within these communities," said Carapella. "We chose to partner with the United Way as they work closely with community partners and are able to identify and quickly respond to the most urgent needs to support the vulnerable. Our thoughts are also with the front line workers and we wanted to help Bluewater Health provide the most critical needs at the hospital."
Bluewater Health Foundation Executive Director Kathy Alexander is grateful.
"We’re so thankful for the outpouring of support from community partners like Tricar. This generosity and kindness will have a lasting impact on front line healthcare workers at Bluewater Health."
United Way Executive Director Dave Brown agreed.
"We are extremely grateful to The Tricar Group and all the employees who helped make this contribution a reality," he said. "This generous $10,000 Tricar contribution to the United Way of Sarnia-Lambton will be well used to fund our Emergency COVID-19 Compassion Fund, where 100% of this contribution will be used to fund agencies struggling to provide basic services of life to people in need throughout Sarnia and Lambton County during this pandemic."
The Tricar Group said the local donations are part of a $110,000 total contribution to communities it works and builds in, in southwestern Ontario.
Tricar is currently building a 15-storey apartment tower at 275 Front St. N.
