Lambton COVID caseload stays steady, but two more deaths

Sarnia-Lambton's COVID-19 caseload remained the same Friday morning but the number of deaths increased by two.

Lambton Public Health reported that as of 8:15 a.m., there were still 128 confirmed cases but 13 deaths now, up from 11.

Bluewater Health Communications Chief Julia Oosterman said a 73-year-old woman admitted April 4, and a 73-year-old man admitted March 29 are the two latest pandemic victims.

The health unit said the number of confirmed cases that have recovered is now 45, up from 41 Thursday.

Two institutional outbreaks have been declared.

Sarnia's Landmark Village retirement home had 23 confirmed cases at last report and six deaths linked to the facility.

An outbreak was declared this week by Lambton Public Health after a staff member at Petrolia's Meadowview Villa tested positive for the virus.

Bluewater Health reported Friday morning that 16 patients are in hospital with the virus and 11 are suspected of having it with tests pending.
