Police find fentanyl on wanted man
A 47-year-old Chatham man who was wanted for failing to comply with his release conditions is in even more trouble with the law now.
Police said he was arrested Monday night on Sandys Street in Chatham.
When officers arrested the man and searched him, they allegedly found some suspected fentanyl and a large amount of Canadian cash on him.
In addition to that, the man allegedly had a 39-year-old Chatham woman with him at the time who he wasn't supposed to be contacting or communicating with.
Police said the woman was also wanted for failing to comply with her release conditions.
Both of the accused were arrested, charged, and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Vehicle clocked going over 170 km/hr on Hwy. 401
A 21-year-old driver from Windsor will be without a vehicle for a few days after Chatham-Kent OPP clocked a vehicle going faster than 170 kilometres an hour on Highway 401 near the Bloomfield Road exit.
Provincial police said the vehicle was stopped at 2:57 a.m. on Sunday. The driver was charged with racing a motor vehicle, which comes with an immediate seven-day vehicle impoundment.
The Windsor resident now has a court date set for July 29 to answer to the charge.

Wanted man arrested in Wallaceburg
Chatham-Kent police managed to do a favour for the local provincial police detachment by arresting a wanted man in Wallaceburg Monday morning.
CK police said the man was turned over to OPP for court purposes after his arrest.

Trailer reported stolen in Blenheim
Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they try to track down a black 18’ tandem axle trailer that was reported stolen from a business on Cathcart Street in Blenheim.
Police said it was taken sometime between 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and 11:30 a.m. on Friday last week.
The trailer was last seen with the Ontario license plate Y17661 and is valued at approximately $3,000.

CKPS salute dispatchers and call takers
Chatham-Kent police are making a special effort to recognize the local 911 Communication Centre staff this week during National Public Safety Telecommunications Week.
In a release, the local police force called those call takers and dispatchers "the unseen heroes" and "unsung heroes" of public safety who are heard only through phone or radio transmissions.
The Communications Centre answers both emergency 911 calls and non-emergency calls for the service while also dispatching Chatham-Kent Fire & Emergency Services.
