The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is releasing an altered schedule for what services will and will not be available for the Canada Day long weekend.

Although indoor pools in Blenheim and Sydenham will be open for a free swim on Monday afternoon, a majority of community and health services will be closed for the holiday.

This includes the Entegrus and Public Utilities Commission, all outdoor pools, Chatham-Kent tourism office, and all regular transit routes – except for the seasonal S1 route which will provide beach transportation to Erieau and Mitchell's Bay.

Despite a wide variety of closures, there are still activities to do with the family on the holiday. The Bothwell arena will be open for Canada Day activities, all other arenas will be closed. The Thames Art Gallery, Chatham-Kent Museum, and Milner Heritage House will be open from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The Ridge House Museum will be open from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Libraries are closed, as well as provincial offences court. Both will resume regular hours on July 2. All administrative offices will be closed on the holiday.

Curbside garbage and recycling collection will be delayed by one day during the week. The Harwich dump, Wallaceburg dump, and Chatham Leaf & Yard Depot will be closed on Monday, July 1.  All others will be open regular hours and will not be affected by the holiday.

A majority of health services will also be shut down during the holiday including :

  • X-rays
  • electrocardiograms (EKG),
  • ultrasounds
  • Ambulatory Care Services,
  • Out-Patient Rehabilitation Services
  • Pre-Surgical Screening Services
  • Diabetes Education Centre
  • The TIA and CAD Clinics
  • Pulmonary Function Lab
  • Outpatient Lab Services
  • Health Records and Patient Appointment Offices
  • Elston Pharmacy, located at the Chatham Site
