Police searching for elderly woman involved in a hit-and-run

Crime Stoppers officials are looking for help to identify the suspect in a hit-and-run investigation.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. on June 18, officials said in a statement on Friday morning.

Police said a female pedestrian was walking westbound on King Street in Chatham, attempting to cross at the intersection at Third Street when she was struck by a white SUV turning left to go north on St Clair Street. Following the crash, the SUV left the scene, continuing north across the Third Street Bridge.

A release from Crime Stoppers described the driver of the SUV as an elderly female with white hair. She was also wearing sunglasses.

Anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-222-8477 and is eligible for a cash reward.

28-year-old charged with uttering threats 

A domestic disturbance in Tilbury has led to charges.

A man attended a family member’s home on Thursday but was denied entrance, police said in a statement. When he was made aware that he was not allowed inside, police said the man allegedly yelled and threatened the woman in the home.

A 28-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with uttering threats. The man's name is not being released.

He was transported to the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and is waiting for a bail hearing.

Woman charged with impaired driving 

A two-car collision on Thursday resulted in the arrest of a middle-aged woman.

Emergency crews responded to the incident on Marlborough Street South in Blenheim at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Police estimate the damages to be around $15,000.

Through an investigation, police allege the woman was driving while under the influence of alcohol, so she was arrested.

A 56-year-old woman was taken to police headquarters for breath tests and later charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. She was released and will appear in court on July 12.

Police recover stolen e-bike in alleged Thursday heist 

A 52-year-old Chatham man is charged with being in possession of stolen property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

Police said the red Daymak e-bike bike was taken from a residence on Eighth Street in Chatham between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Thursday.

Through investigation, police located the stolen e-bike on Queen Street.

The accused was arrested and later released, with conditions and a future court date.
