Jennifer Wilson's commitment to volunteer work has earned her another award -- this time from the province.
She recently received the June Callwood Outstanding Achievement Award for Voluntarism at the 2017 Hospice Palliative Care Ontario Annual Conference.
That award follows similar recognitions from the Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce, which named her its "Citizen of the Year" in 2016 -- and from the Blenheim and District Chamber of Commerce, which also named her its "Citizen of the Year" this past March.
A lot of her recognition stems from the work she has been doing with the Chatham-Kent Hospice, which opened its doors in April 2016.
Despite receiving another prestigious honour for her work, Wilson is quick to spread the recognition around.
"I welcome this award as a representative of all the hospice volunteers who put their heart and soul into the very difficult and meaningful work of helping people at their most vulnerable time of life," Wilson says in a release.
The June Callwood Award is named in honour of the late June Callwood who was a community activist, author, recipient of the Order of Canada, and a long-time advocate of hospice care.
