MPP Rick Nicholls is expressing frustration that a court battle involving 21 pit bull type dogs continues to drag on, and likely won't be resolved at the next court appearance.
Nicholls was in court yesterday when the case was put over to next month.
"It's very disappointing that it keeps being delayed, put over to another date, in the meantime those dogs continue to be held in captivity by the OSPCA, not that that's a bad thing but it's not a good thing," he says. "Once again I will be challenging the Minister of Community Safety and Correctional services."
Nicholls is trying to convince the Ontario government to make an exception for the dogs and allow them to go to an animal rescue sanctuary in King City.
The criminal charges against four people in the case have been remanded to May 5 as the defence lawyers needs to study crown information in the case.
Applications by three animal protection groups be in provincial offences court May 18 to set another date.
