Both Chatham-Kent school boards are responding to grieving students today after the death of a 14-year-old boy near Bothwell last night.
He was a student with the Lambton-Kent District School Board.
While Superintendent of Education Dave Doey wouldn't recognize the incident specifically, he says social workers will be available for students.
"They'll provide both short-term and long-term support if that's what's required," says Doey. "They'll do such things as counsel and work with groups and individuals."
Even though the teen attended the public system, Deb Crawford with the St. Clair Catholic District School Board says a compassionate care team is available to students at Good Shepherd Catholic School in Thamesville today.
"We are a very close community in Chatham-Kent and our students interact with each other within the community, within sports, as friends and family," says Crawford. "So when a tragic incident occurs at our co-terminus board, so many members of our school community are affected."
