A provincial farmers cooperative is teaming up with Comet Biorefining to develop a sustainable agricultural biomass supply chain in southwestern Ontario.

Comet Biorefining recently announced plans for a commercial-scale biomass-derived sugar facility in Sarnia.
The plant is expected to require over 60 thousand tonnes of corn stover or wheat straw a year to produce dextrose sugar.
The supply chain would provide that material for the plant.
Park calls corn stover a very sensible feedstock.
He points out it's like super-imposing a crop on top of an existing crop, while not taking away any land from food production.
The business plan for an agricultural biomass to sugar value chain in southwestern Ontario was developed by Bioindustrial Innovation Canada.
