It's a first for St. Clair College.
Its men's golf team came from behind in third place at the OCAA golf championship to win their first-ever tournament gold medal.
The men had a three-day total of 920 (56 over par) on a challenging course at the Barrie Country Club. Georgian College hosted the event.
The Saints were in third place after round two, seven strokes back of Humber and six strokes behind Fanshawe. On Wednesday, the team pulled ahead.
Spencer Higginbottom of Lakeshore led the Saints over three days, shooting 11 over 227. He finished in solo third place in a field of 50 golfers and won the bronze medal.
Steven Hill, also of Lakeshore, shot a 2-under 70, while Harrow's Cale Marontate had his best round of the tournament, shooting an even-par 72.
The other team members were Simon Moir of London and Owen Laverty of Whitby.
Higginbottom, Hill, and Cowling qualified for the 2025 Golf Ontario Amateur Championship. Higginbottom and Hill were also named to the OCAA Men's All-Star Team.
The St. Clair's men's team qualified to compete at the 2024 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Golf National Championships in King City from October 15 to October 18.
The women's team won the silver medal.
Alyssa Cowling of Oldcastle finished in fifth place, while Amherstburg's Justine Gorham finished in sixth.
