Youth golf tour rolls into Essex Golf and Country Club

Golfers of the future continued their pursuit of success Wednesday at the Essex Golf and Country Club with the annual Unico Primo Junior Golf Tour.

As has been the case during the tour, the competition was divided by gender into junior and collegiate divisions.

Andrew Baker and Ben Buchner both shot a 70 to force a playoff. After four holes, Baker took the Junior Boys' division. Evan Fenech was right behind with a 71, while Christian Morneau, Cale Marontate, Cash Kiriakopolous, and Finlay Burns tied with 72.

For the Pickering Cup, Morneau tied with Bennett Brazier with a two-day total of 142, and Morneau broke the tie with a 15-foot birdie on the first playoff hole.

In the Collegiate Men's division, Kevin Teichroeb collected his fourth straight win on the tour. Austin Brancaccio shot a 74, and Nathan White followed up with a 79.

For the Junior Girls division, Olivia Tartaro prevailed with a career-best 72 score and notched her first win.

Emily Young collected the Pickering Cup with a two-day total of 151.

In the Collegiate Women's division, the University of Windsor's Vanessa Ardovini won with an 83. Kennedy Fremlin and Justine Gorham were behind with 87 each.

The tour continues Thursday at Rochester Place Golf Club in Lakeshore.

After that, there are five stops in Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent, beginning this weekend and ending in mid-August.
