Spitfires sniper to play for Team Canada in Finland

One of the Windsor Spitfires' more dangerous scorers will have a chance to score for Canada later this month.

Forward Liam Greentree is one of 19 CHL players who have been named to the Team Canada roster at the 2024 IIHF U18 World Championship, to take place from April 25 to May 5 in Finland.

Greentree is among ten OHL players who have been invited to compete for Team Canada.

"We are excited to bring this calibre of young athletes together to begin working with our coaching staff," said Hockey Canada Senior Manager of Hockey Operations Benoit Roy. "Having players who already know how to compete in a short-term tournament will also bring valuable experience and leadership to our team in our quest for a gold medal."

Greentree, 18, a left-winger from Oshawa, scored 36 goals for the Spitfires this past season, for a total of 90 points. That doubled his point total for the 2022-2023 season. Eleven goals were scored on the power play.

He is also ranked 14th on the NHL Central Scouting list for North American skaters and is expected to get attention from NHL clubs in the Entry Draft this June.
